Can you really compare past Presidential campaigns to the McCain/Obama campaign?

At this point, I don't think we can assume that the ';Hick'; states will decide who becomes President. They may have been vital in the past with all-white nominees, but in this election I don't think they will weigh in as heavily. The states to look at this go round will be Georgia, Virginia, Colorado, Missouri... White racists are fast becoming obsolete in America. Thank God!

History will be different in more ways than we can imagine. Can you really compare past Presidential campaigns to the McCain/Obama campaign?
Prior to this election the people of the United States had not had eight years of George Bush. I think that is what sets this election apart. Most people don't want anyone that is even minutely related to George W. to be our next president.

Obama speaks to the concerns of most Americans. John McCain doesn't have a clue. Can you really compare past Presidential campaigns to the McCain/Obama campaign?
Kennedy was the first Catholic ever elected and that was pretty big at the time. There have been lots of complicated races. Reagan was able to carry California as a Republican which seems pretty unlikely nowadays. As far as Hicks go every state has them. It just doesn't usually matter in places with bigger urban populations and more university degrees. San Francisco and Seattle are two of the best educated cities in the country and they're both pretty big democrat centers. Go outside of them though and you quickly find a mix of voters.
Not too many electorial votes in the above scenero.

Blue collar made the difference in the Congressional races in 2006.

They will make the difference in 2008 also.

Congress will go more Democrat, but McCain will defeat Obama in a landslide.
There are different scenarios in every election but more often than not the popular and qualified candidate always win.
Yes, I can.
