Why did McCain suspend his campaign instead of turning it over to Sarah Palin?

Isn't that what a VP does: step in for the President when the President is busy or unable?

It's not like McCain will be gone a long time - they're trying hard to get this bailout bill hammered out before next week. Why did McCain suspend his campaign instead of just letting Sarah Palin handle it on her own for a couple of days? Why did McCain suspend his campaign instead of turning it over to Sarah Palin?
If by campaigning you mean giving speeches and doing interviews then the answer is simple. If you saw the Katie Couric interview with Sarah Palin, you would have seen how terribly she got rocked. Couric grilled her pretty hard but Palin's answers were just cliched ';McCain is a maverick who isn't afraid of the heat'; answers. It seems no one even gave her a crash course on the history of any major legislation her running mate was a part of. It was like watching your 5 year old sister choke at a spelling bee. You just want to kick over the mic and try to save her from the embarrassment.

Campaign aids are probably thinking damage control rather than letter her take the reigns. But hey....Shes got a great smile?

Why did McCain suspend his campaign instead of turning it over to Sarah Palin?
It i9s a political ploy. In addition, she is not ready to do much campaigning as witnessed by the poor performance in the interview with Kate Kurack (sp) . Part of the ploy is that McCain wanted to postpone Friday's debate so he could have it replace the Palin debate that takes place the following Thursday. Bush was in on it by asking for the meeting on the same day of the debate where he could have easily done it on Thursday (which pretty much finally happen) or on Saturday. If he didn't have the ploy in mind, he would have just done both like Obama did the meeting on Thursday.
Palin is totally incompetent and not the brightest! she is brash and ambitious though, which makes up for her lack of knowledge, honesty, and common sense. she is good at reading speeches that were prepared before she was even in the picture. Americans will soon realize how shallow and inadequate she is! McCain wouldn't even trust her to take the reigns for a couple of days preferring to shut it off! wow...She is a air head! That simple! INADEQUATE! VERY INADEQUATE!
Although McCain thought people would see him as parachuting in and riding to the rescue, when he got to Washington both parties told him to go away. Didn't work any better than the same scheme did with Hurricane Gustav.

But his real goal was to reschedule the debate (which his ads in the Wall Street Journal that morning already said he had won ';hands down'; even had some quotes...) so that the VP debate would be delayed, probably not happen at all. Palin has scared the carp out of McCain and the RNC, with her witches, voodoo dolls and whatever, the two investigations (that we know of) either one of which may result in her impeachment as Gov. of Alaska, and her interview the other day where she was clueless and came across not as uninformed but as stupid.

Looking at his goal, McCain lost big time.
Since I see the usual Republican supporters using their usual nonsensical defenses, here's an idea that might seem radical only because it's so obvious no one bothered to think of it. (And it's nonpartisan as well, as a bonus!)

Why don't we let the VP candidates slug it out first? Biden and Palin first, then all presidential debates after that.
Sarah Palin can't find her *** with both hands, a map, GPS and a team of Sherpas; letting her handle the campaign would be political suicide and McCain's handlers are having a rough enough time trying to make her look less out-of-her-league than she is.
Here is why

He didn't suspend anything other then his ads

The campaign offices are all still open and working
If Palin takes over, the race would be over before the election
You would think! but Sarah Palin is still busy kicking herself after the Catie Couric interview.
Palin can barely form a logical sentence
If she were VP and he was president, that would be the case

But they arent yet
ABSOFRIGGIN'LUTELY. Is the vice candidate unavailabe?
Because McCain is busy being an actual Senator and is helping to bring a solution to the economic crisis we are facing. While Obama, the man of ';change'; and ';hope'; is still out there campaigning and doing what he normally does as a Senator, which is nothing. Politics as usual with him. He's only showing he's not part of the solution.
Perhaps because in times like these, they shouldn't be campaigning, and they should be working. Why doesn't Hussein understand that? He is jumping in to butt heads and get things done
