What are your thoughts on campaign finance reform?

We allow corporations to give money to politicians to run for office. In fact we almost force politicians to go to corporations. Isn't it a conflict of interest at best and straight out bribery at worst? What are your thoughts on campaign finance reform?
Very simple: lobbying needs to be almost completely eliminated, and punished severely. And I'm talking about 20-50 year MANDATORY sentences. Armey should be locked up, for example, FOREVER.

Term limits are a joke. We have them already, they're called ';elections';, and in reality, if some slimy corporation like Halliburton is willing to go out and buy representation in Congress, changing ';brands'; every 2-6 years is not a big deal. A whore is a whore. It's the ';johns'; who need to be smashed. Term limits effectively punish the most effective representatives.

The late Bill Proxmire, in Wisconsin, won his last election with a campaign budget of below $200, less an a tenth of one per cent what his opponent spent. He won in a landslide.

If one is good enough, it doesn't always have to be about money.

More important: we need to shut down some of these lunatic corporate scam artists/pundits on the periphery of politics, the professional lying scum who muddy the waters with fake issues. They're really more dangerous than the politicians. What are your thoughts on campaign finance reform?
Lobbyists need to be made illegal in politics. It is not ';for the people by the people'; when it is ';for the people by the lobbyists';. Obama is guilty as all before him on being a puppet to corporate interests. The pharmaceutical and health care industry will make billions more in profit thanks to forced health care under the government. The government doesn't make medicine or medical equipment so that will come from the corporations that exist currently.
corporations, unions, PAC's whats the difference - they are all bought and sold. At least hookers stay bought - politicians think they know better than us. Eliminate all candidate knowledge of who donated to campaigh - all donations go to cenral location - that way politicians dont know who is sending them cash
I agree with you. I also think it would have been better for everyone if Obama had stuck to the agreement he made to not collect funds. But then Soros couldn't have bought the Oval Office for him.
wah wah wah the president dose not have the power that you think he has, the politions has the power and we voted the politions in so we're the ones with the problem.
reform it, stomp it in the ground, dig a hole and bury it. Term limits are the answer, for more info see http://www.BlowOutCongress.com
I think that the Nazi party needs to become notable once again.

With a few reforms, at least. Mostly they should stop targeting the Jews, and switch to Christians.
Look at the bright side: political campaigns ain't going broke unlike the rest of government.
Big bucks lobbying has to end. Absolutely. And with a vengeance.
