What happens to campaign contribution money when a candidate drops out of a political race?

I've always wondered what happens to campaign contributions once a candidate drops out of a political race, particularly the presidential races, where quite literally hundreds of millions of dollars have been raised across all campaigns. Do the candidates just keep it? do they return it to candidates? is it handed over to their respective national parties? What happens to campaign contribution money when a candidate drops out of a political race?
I know Ron Paul spent it on a blimp to carry all of his cash. Argentina will probably take him.

Edit: hello T, you echo my sentiments exactly. It is called election fraud. What happens to campaign contribution money when a candidate drops out of a political race?
They cannot use it for personal gain. It goes to their party which uses it in the general election.
They give it to hot girls like me
Ask Ron Paul.

He took all his supporter's money and is letting it MAINLY SIT IN THE BANK AND KEEP IT FOR HIMSELF!!!!!

Paul's supporters gave to the movement and Ron Paul did not put a single ad out even though he has the money to broadcast his own message.
They get to go shoe shopping
They find some phony way to use it and charge it to the campaign. Can you say, living in a nice neighborhood, with a lot of security and new vehicles, being driven by your servants!
They can give it back, they can keep it for another political campaign, or they can donate it elsewhere.
They keep it
They can keep it for a future run at a office, they can give it to the national party. upon retiring it is theirs!
They build a hot tub at their Hampton's beach house.
i get it and i spend it on beer and women
They get to pay ofr those nagging bills and then it's Party time.
they take me to dinner? and i'm no cheap date either....lol
