What role did James Longstreet play during the Peninsula Campaign Spring of 1862?

Also, who was to blame for the diluting of the counterattack against McClellan? Who commanded and was replaced? What role did James Longstreet play during the Peninsula Campaign Spring of 1862?
He didn't play any role, except to follow Lee's lead. Blame Lee if fault is to be placed. Lee replaced Gen. Johnston .What role did James Longstreet play during the Peninsula Campaign Spring of 1862?
He was the rear guard commander at Yorktown and Williamsburg. His report blamed general Benjamin Huger for the diluted counterattack, but it was actually Longstreet who marched his men in the wrong direction and created confusion in the Confederate lines.

General Johnston was in command but was wounded during the battle and was replaced by Robert E Lee.
He played no role other than follow Lee's lead.
