What happens to campaign contribution money that was leftover and not used for campaigning?

tens of millions were raised each month. if 100% wasn't used up by election day, let's say 100 million was left over, who gets to keep it? Do they return it to the donors?What happens to campaign contribution money that was leftover and not used for campaigning?

They can keep it for future campaigns or donate it to charities. They normally do a little of both, except McCain / Palin who used it to buy more clothes.
A lot of it gets used for subsequent legal defense funds. Blago is diverting $2 million from his old campaign fund in this way.
They keep it for another campaign, usually.
They either spend it on their next campaign or line their pockets with it prior to vacating office.
Obama was caught using it for his birth certificate legal defense.
obama is using his to support his crack habbit.
