How will the PR Campaign affect the marketing function of the organization?

An organization wants to position itself as a leader in embracing diversity in the workplace. How will the PR Campaign affect the marketing function of the organization? How will the PR Campaign affect the marketing function of the organization?
Well we PR people think that the question should really be how do marketing activities affect your public image.

Public Relations governs the overall image, and communication between your organisation and the external world. PR is affected by all actions that the organisation takes. So if your marketing message contradicts your PR message you'll have trouble with that one.

Maybe you should also ask whether complimenting yourself on ';Embracing diversity'' will have any real, tangible effect for your organisation. Most people when they read that tend to get a bit cynical, it's just the latest buzzword. Much better to tell everyone that you're utilizing synergy and the Web 2.0. (sarcasm).

But, if the message is (which I personally think is unlikely) positively recieved by the audience, it should create positive connotations with your company which can only help your marketing functions.

Also, as an aside, more important than ''embracing diversity'' is credibility. If you get caught in actions that would suggest that your company DOESN'T ''embrace diversity'' it will have a worse affect on your company's reputation than if you had never run the PR campaign at all. So be prepared to follow your words up with action!
